What is a Certified Fire Alarm Electrician?
A Certified Fire Alarm Electrician is a 309A Electrician that has completed the ECAOs Cerifire program. The course is divided into 4 Levels. Each Level consists of 40 hours of Instructor led training, a final project and a three hour final exam (Which strongly resembles the C of Q).
Level 1 Conventional Fire Alarm Control Panels and installation of devices
Level 2 Integrated Fire Alarm Control EVAC Systems and Fire Alarm Extinguishing Panels
Level 3 Troubleshooting of Complete Fire Alarm Systems
Level 4 Installation of Addressable/Distributed Fire Alarm Systems
The Canadian Fire Alarm Association was founded in 1973 with the intent of Maximizing the Effectiveness and Use of Fire Alarm Systems in the Protection of Life and Property. Today, it's one of two organizations that provide Fire Alarm Training guidelines acceptable to the Ontario Fire Marshall.
